Wavepower is the latest Swim England Child Safeguarding Policies and Procedures publication which replaces all previous versions.
It has been produced to assist in safeguarding and protecting children in our sport and must be adopted by all Swim England affiliated clubs and organisations.
Ensuring that children are safeguarded should be a key part of how our clubs and swim schools operate and helps to provide a safe, happy and fun environment in which children can learn to swim and develop their skills.
The responsibility to safeguard children does not belong to any one person, but instead belongs to everyone who plays a part in delivering our sporting activities. Wavepower is intended for anyone involved in these activities and offers practical guidance and information on mandatory requirements and good practice.
If any new guidance or policy changes are released, then pages will be updated on the Swim England website.
You can access the full Wavepower document via the Swim England website. Follow the link below.
Should you have any queries regarding safeguarding or child protection please speak to the JWPA Welfare Officer, Alice Harvey. Please contact her using the following email (amharvey85@hotmail.co.uk) or alternatively at club training.
JWPA coaches, volunteers and helpers are DBS checked.
The Jersey Water Polo Association (JWPA) adopts Wavepower, the Swim England safeguarding policy, as the core foundation for all safeguarding practices across our organisation. Wavepower sets out the mandatory framework that ensures the protection, safety, and wellbeing of all children, young people, and adults at risk who take part in our sport.
In line with recognised best practice and safeguarding expectations, JWPA requires that this safeguarding policy also incorporates the following key components:
1) How to Report a Concern
2) Welfare Officer / Safeguarding Lead Contact Details
3) Local Escalation Contacts
4) Recording and Managing Concerns
